Wild West Wyoming

“It ain't the clothes that make the cowgirl, it's the attitude and heart.” — Author Unknown
"Let him ride a horse. He's a cowboy, ain't he." — Nathanael West
"A horse is the projection of peoples' dreams about themselves – strong, powerful, beautiful – and it has the capability of giving us escape from our mundane existence." — Pam Brown

Horses and cowboys have always been symbols of the American Wild West. Wild West Wyoming is a series of images that contemporizes notions of the American frontier and celebrates cowgirl and cowboy culture. Known also as wranglers, these cowhands, like many across America, saddle up to manage cattle and do all kinds of work with horses, including training mustangs and wild horses.

These images were captured at and around the Hideout, a horse and working cattle ranch in Shell, Wyoming, East of Cody and Yellowstone National Park in the Big Horn Mountain —many thanks to the Hideout and all the wranglers.
